» Peering request form
» Peering policy
1. Minimum requirements
Both Private Network Interconnect and Public Peering Interconnect can be requested, provided the below conditions are met.
The candidate shall be a publicly or privately held company registered in its home country's trade and/or industry authority.
The peering candidate shall operate his own AS (Autonomous System), and have it registered/recorded in any Routing Registry.
As a consequence, the candidate's aut-num record shall be fully documented, maintained and updated accordingly upon peering session establishmenti. The peering candidate shall operate a NOC, which shall be reachable 24/7/365 by email and phone.
Moreover, any change in the aforementionned contact channels shall be advertised to Dailymotion's NOC and Peering alias (see Administrative info)There is no minimum volume of traffic required between Dailymotion's AS41690 and the peering candidate's AS, this volume shall be evaluated by Dailymotion's peering board, on a case-by-case basis.
Failure to comply with any of the aforementioned requirements will likely result in peering session(s) being shut by Dailymotion's peering team.
2. Public Peering Interconnect
Dailymotion's AS41690 can be met for Public Peering on the below listed NAPs:
PaNAP, Paris, FRANCE (http://www.panap.fr) : 10 Gigabit Ethernet
FRANCE-IX, Paris, FRANCE (http://www.franecix.net) : 10 Gigabit Ethernet
LINX, London, UK (http://www.linx.net) : 10 Gigabit Ethernet
AMS-IX, Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS (http://www.ams-ix.net) : 10 Gigabit Ethernet
DE-CIX, Frankfurt, GERMANY (http://www.decix.de): 10 Gigabit Ethernet
EQUINIX Paris, Paris, FRANCE (http://www.equinix.com) : 1x Gigabit Ethernet
LoNAP, London, UK (http://www.lonap.net) : 2x Gigabit Ethernet
EQUINIX New York, New York, US (http://www.switchanddata.com) : 10 Gigabit Ethernet
When achievable, secring a main session on multiple NAPs is preffered, but not mandatory.
Above a decent volume of exchanged traffic, AS41690 might and will very likely decide to require multiple sessions, or a Private Network Interconnect (PNI).
3. Private Network Interconnect
The below conditions shall enable a PNI with Dailymotion's AS41690:
The PNI candidate share one co-location facility site with Dailymotion (see peering facilities above).
A significant amount of traffic is exchanged between AS41690 and the candidate AS (to be discussed with Dailymotion's peering team).
Interconnect costs are shared between AS41690 and the candidate AS.
The minimum bandwidth to be commissioned for interconnect is 1G Ethernet - there is no maximum.
Nx 1G Ethernet trunks are feasible, yet a 10G Ethernet interconnect will be advised above 4x 1G ports in the same trunk.
Securing a PNI with a Public Peering Interconnect is highly advised, but yet not mandatory
The below media/optics are available for interconnect, and shall be discussed with Dailymotion's engineering team prior to operational go-live:
Copper 1G Ethernet (check on availability as optical 1G is preferred).
Optical 1G Ethernet: MM SX, SM LX/LH
POS is not an option (welcome to the 21st century, pal ;)
Optical 10G Ethernet: MM SR, SM LR, SM ER (due to optical transponder costs, ER optics shall be used only in case of Ethernet Backhaul link to reach a remote Dailymotion Facility, and shall be regarded as last resort.
The housing facilities where to establish the PNI shall be discussed directly with the candidate, the PNI facilities are mentionned on top of this page.
4. Technical requirements
The below conditions shall be maintained upon peering establishment, they are mandatory.
BGP-4 shall be the only EGP used for interconnect (not really worth mentionning tho...)
In case of Private Network Interconnect, AS41690 and the peering partner shall agree on who provides the interconnect /30 IP pool.
MD5 session is not mandatory (well... unwanted when feasible), but can be implemented upon agreement.
The only accepted Layer2 Frames shall be of the below listed Ethertype:
IPv4 (0x0800)
ARP (0x0806)
IPv6 in the future(0x86dd)
No 'funky' protocols shall be used on the interconnect link:
No disvovery protocol: CDP, FDP, IRDP, EDP ...
No Layer2 resiliency protocol: VRRP, VRRP-E, HSRP ...
No ICMP Redirects, no DHCP/BootP
No link-keepalives, no UDLD...
Peer should advertise full aggregated prefices.
No prefixes narrower than /24 will be accepted.
All announced prefixes shall be recorder within local IRR with candidate's AS as Origin.
Candidate shall advertise its member AS' prefixes if agreed, long as they are documented in its AS-SET.
BOGONs/RFC1918 filter lists shall regularly be updated by the peering partner so no unwanted prefix is received.
All traffic towards announced destinations shall be forwarded, i.e no black-holing
In case of multiple interconnects, the partner AS will agree with AS41690 on the most convenient exit to be used as primary or secondary.
The below examples are strictly unwanted, and regarded as show-stoppers:
No default route towards AS41690 is tolerated, nor Statics towards destinations not being part of AS41690's announces.
Except upon specific agreement, the peer shall not advertise or re-advertise prefixes learnt from his other peers.
Dailymotion reserves the righ to:
Definitely/temporarily shut the peering upon invalid prefix advertisement.
Definitely/temporarily shut the session as a result of abnormal level of errors on the interconnect link.
Definitely/temporarily shut the session consecutively to excessive BGP flapping.
Definitely/temporarily shut the session if any of the previously agreed terms are not met anymore
Require an additionnal private interconnect Link if traffic reaches a certain level on initial link
Definitely shut the peering in answer to repeated / noticeable delay in solving network operation issues
Proceed with Hot-Potato routing
Should the above conditions look frightening, we strongly believe any issue can be solved by just sending an email to Dailymotion's peering team, please don't be scared and come peer with us, our policy is opened to reasonable people ;)
